Assign Grade K students Grade 1 Content
Measuring Up Live is only available for grades 1 and above in ELA, Math, and Science. Though Kindergarten is not available, you may choose to allow your “high-flyers” in Kindergarten to use the grade 1 content. In order to do so, place K students on a class roster in Measuring Up Live enabled with grade 1. Make sure you assign a license to each K student who will use the program.
Keep Assignments to a Minimum
When using Measuring Up Live for students who are in K-2 grades, please keep assigned content at a minimum. Your students are beginning to familiarize themselves with navigating an online program. A brief 2-3 question assignment in Insight is a good opportunity in this case. As your students become more familiar with navigating the system, you may lengthen assignments at your discretion.
Text-to-Speech
Make sure to utilize the text-to-speech option for your younger students. This feature will read passages and item content to students and may be enabled per individual students on the Student Roster of the Management tab, by editing the student account and selecting the accessibility options.
Lesson Library
The MyQuest Lesson Library is an invaluable tool that can be utilized for grades 1-8. Some K students may benefit from some of the grade 1 lessons. For example, the lessons at grade 1 offer two different options for lessons:
Those lessons which indicate “Early” are easier in content. These could potentially be used for K students as well as grade 1 students, at your discretion.
