Canvas Integration
Overview
This article explains how to log into your Canvas LMS, access your course, see and launch assignments if your account has been setup to integrate with Canvas.
Logging into Canvas
You will access your Canvas LMS via the URL provided by your district/school.
Dashboard
Once logged into your Canvas LMS you will be taken to the dashboard within Canvas. Your dashboard displays your courses. The screenshot below is showing an Advanced Placement United States History course. Selecting the course will launch into the course within Canvas.
Note:
Your Canvas course may not have an image associated to it. You can use the vertical ellipsis to add a cover image of your choice.
Courses
When selecting your course tile you should open up to your course's Home page.
Assignments
Within your course you can select Assignments to see a list of assignments that have been created for your course.
Recommendation:
Create your assignments in Perfection Next and they will automatically be created in Canvas. It is much easier to navigate all the course resources within Perfection Next as they are associated down to the Chapter/Topic.
Accessing Perfection Next
To launch from Canvas into Perfection Next, select the Perfection Learning link. It is setup as an external tool that is available in your course. Selecting it opens a new browser tab/window.
Perfection Next Dashboard
You will be directed into the Perfection Next Class Dashboard.
Your class will not have an assignment panel if you have not created any assignments for your class.
To access the product content, select the product tile you wish to view.

Your class will not have an Assignments panel if you have not previously created an assignment for your class.
Creating an Assignment
You will create your assignments in Perfection Next. Those assignments will automatically be sync'd to your Canvas course.
In the lower left-hand corner teacher's will see an Assign button. Selecting this button will initiate the creating of an assignment in Perfection Next.
Selecting the Create Assignment button will create an assignment in Perfection Next.

Select the Dashboard menu item to go back to the Class Dashboard. This assignment was created for a date in the future, so it is listed with a status of upcoming.
Assignment Synced to Canvas
Your assignment will also be sync'd to Canvas and show up in Assignments in Canvas.
Your assignment will not yet be published for students in your Canvas course.
You will need to publish the assignment. Students will not be able to take the assignment until the current date is later than the Start Date of the assignment.
Grading Assignments
You will do the grading of assignments from within Perfection Next. When done grading the grade will be sync'd to your Canvas course.
Grades
In Grades one can view the grades for the assignments within your Canvas course.
Assignments that have not been published will show up as UNPUBLISHED when in Grades of your Canvas course.
Perfection Next Dashboard
You will also be able to see your assignments for the class in Perfection Next on your Class Dashboard.
Upcoming assignments will have a grey pill in the Class Average column. Assignments that have been graded will show the class average. The color coding will be based on the proficiency band that the class average falls into.
Proficiency Band Colors and Ranges
Color | Range |
Blue | 90%+ |
Green | 80% to 89% |
Orange | 65% to 79% |
Red | Below 65% |
Reporting in Perfection Next
While you can get grade information within the Grades in your Canvas course, you will find more detailed reporting in Reports menu item within Perfection Next.
