Uploading Student CSV File

The following steps will allow you to bulk upload a CSV File of students to create student accounts. When students are uploaded, these students are available to all the teachers in your school with access to Perfection Next.

You should NOT use this process if you are having students register via a Class Code or if your school/district has integrated with Perfection Next with Single Sign-On.

Step-by-Step Directions

  1. Select the Manage menu item from the navigation bar in the upper right corner of the screen.


  2. Select Users from the dropdown menu.


  3. You will be taken to the Manage Users screen for Student Accounts. If there are no students in your school the list will be empty.


  4. Select the Upload Students button near the top-right corner of the screen.


  5. If have not created a student import file to upload, you will need to select the Download Student Template link.


  6. This will download a .CSV file onto your device. The file is called content.csv by default, though you can rename it.

  7. Once the file is ready to be uploaded, select the Select File to Upload button.


  8. Select the saved .CSV file containing your students information to upload or drop it over the dotted area on the screen.

  9. After selecting the file, the student information should be displayed on the screen.


  10. Check for errors in your file. If all rows have green checkmarks in the left most column you may proceed to Step 17.


  11. If you have errors that need to be corrected they will a red x icon in the left most column.

    Username fields with errors the username desired is not available and you must choose something else. If you are seeing an error in another field, then most likely you left it blank and you must provide a value.


  12. The columns with errors will have a red triangle and the data of that column will be colored in a red box. Selecting these values will allow you to edit the data or you can edit the .CSV file then restart at Step 7.

  14. Edit the value, in this case update the username so it does not conflict with another user account.


  15. You may then change the value of the column.


  16. When selecting enter after updating the value, it will validate your entry.


  17. Once you have no errors left, select Add Student Records button.


  18. You will see a confirmation message indicating that the students have successfully been added to the system.

While you have now successfully uploaded a .CSV file of student information. You will need to still add the students to your classes before they will be able to access Perfection Next.
