Data-Driven Instruction with Perfection Next® Reporting

Reports Overview

Educators need to know how students are progressing and how they can best
support them. Using data can help accomplish this, and having reliable data
provided in real-time is critical to making important instructional decisions.

Analyzing real-time data and monitoring student progress helps inform
instruction. Recognizing student performance, monitoring progress toward
academic goals, and identifying areas for improvement closes gaps and
increases student achievement.


Student Class Dashboard

The Student Class Dashboard will provide students with an immediate visual
and status of every lesson assigned, completed, and scored to help
them stay on track.

Students use this report to understand:

  • Which assignments do I need to complete and by when?

  • How did I perform on a previously completed assignment?

  • What resources are available to me on Perfection Next®?

How to find this report

Upon logging into Perfection Next, the Dashboard is the default view. It can also be accessed at any time by selecting Dashboard on the navigation menu at the top of the screen.


Teacher Class Dashboard

The Perfection Next® Class Dashboard is the first data point to monitoring student progress. It provides an at-a-glance view of assignments created and student performance on those assignments.

The Teacher Dashboard provides an immediate at-a-glance view of the
status of all lessons assigned to a class.

Educators use this report to understand:

  • How are students in my class progressing towards assignment completion?

  • How did students in my class perform on the assignment?

  • Is anyone falling behind on their assigned tasks?

  • Which assignments need grading?

How to find this report

  • Upon logging into Perfection Next®, the Dashboard is the default view. It can also be accessed at anytime by selecting Dashboard on the navigation bar at the top of the screen.

  • Selecting the average for an assignment will generate the Item Analysis report.


Item Analysis

From the Class Dashboard, educators can drill down into a specific
lesson for more detail on class performance.



Assignment Reports

The assignment reports include class, group, and individual assignment reports. These reports provide the educator with the proficiency band and average for each assignment, providing a quick snapshot of progress.

Class Assignment Report

Scores and student performance for any assigned lesson can be viewed
from the Class Assignment Report.

Educators use this report to understand:

  • How did my class perform on an assignment by color-coded proficiency band?

  • What was the average assignment score for the whole class?

  • What are the start and end date of an assignment? (These are set by the educator when creating the assignment.)

How to find this report

  • Located under Reports on the navigation bar at the top of the screen.

  • Selecting Item Analysis will present the educator with an item analysis report for the selected assignment for the class (see Item Analysis in the Teacher Class Dashboard section of this article).


Group Assignment Report

When a class has pre-made groups created, the educator can view the
performance details for that group.

Educators use this report to understand:

  • How did a group in my class perform on an assignment by color-coded proficiency band?

  • What was the average assignment score for a group of students in my class?

  • When was the start and end date of an assignment?

How to find this report

  • From within the Class Assignment Report, use the Student dropdown at the top of the screen to choose the group .

  • Selecting Item analysis will present the educator with an item analysis report for the selected assignment for the group (see Item Analysis in the Teacher Class Dashboard section of this article).


Student Assignment Report

The Student Assignment Report is a deeper dive from the Class
Assignment Report into a specific student’s performance on
assignments.

Educators use this report to understand:

  • How did a student in my class perform on assignment by color-coded proficiency band?

  • What was the student's score on an assignment compared to the class average?

  • When was the start and end date of an assignment? (These are set by the educator when creating the assignments.)

How to find this report

  • From within the Class Assignment Report, use the Student dropdown at the top of the screen to choose the individual student in the class.

  • Selecting Item Analysis will present the educator with an item analysis report for that specific student (see Item Analysis in the Teacher Class Dashboard section of this article).


Administrator Assignment Reports

When enabled for the Building Administrator, additional filter option is visible allowing them to navigate to a specific teacher’s class data. The Administrator view allows the building-level administrator to observe progress data by teacher, class, group, or individual students.

Educators use this report to understand:

  • How are students in a teacher's class performing on assignments by color-coded proficiency band?

  • Are students making adequate progress through the course materials?

How to find this report

  • Enabled for Administrators only—from within the Class Assignment Report, or from the Assignment Report in the report menu, use the Teacher and Class dropdown at the top of the screen to see the students associated a specific teacher and class.

  • Selecting Item Analysis will present the educator with an item analysis report for the selected assignment for the all students, groups, or specific students depending on the Student view selected in the menu above (see Item Analysis in the Teacher Class Dashboard section of this article).


Gradebook Reports

The Gradebook provides educators with an at-a-glance visual of student performance by assignment or standard. Educators can use the View filter to see:

  • Assignment Scores as Percentages

  • Assignment Scores as Points

  • Standard Scores as Percentages

  • Standard Scores as Points​


Class Gradebook Report

The class view provides educators with a holistic view of the assignment or standard performance for every student in the class using a color-coded proficiency band.

Educators use this report to understand:

  • How are each of my students performing by assignment or standard?

  • Are students making adequate progress through the course materials?

  • Which assignments do I need to grade?

How to find this report

  • Located under the Reports menu at the top right of the screen, then select Gradebook.

  • To change the view from Assignment to Standard, use the View dropdown.


Group Gradebook Report

The Group view provides educators with a report showing assignment or standard performance for select students assigned to a group.

Educators use this report to understand:

  • How are the students in an assigned group performing by assignment or standards?

  • Are students making adequate progress through the course materials?

  • Which assignments do I need to grade?

  • Are there students who have not completed an assignment?

How to find this report

  • From within the Class Gradebook Report, use the Student droopdwon at the top of the screen and choose the group.

  • To change the view from Assignment to Standard, use the View dropdown.


Student Gradebook Report

The Student Gradebook Report is a deeper dive from the Class Group Report into a specific student’s performance on assignments or standards.

Educators use this report to understand:

  • How is a specific student performing by assignment or standard compared to the class average?

  • Is this student making adequate progress through the course materials compared ot the class average?

How to find this report

  • From within the Group Gradebook Report, use the Student dropdown at the top of the screen to choose the name of a specific student.

  • To change the view from Assignment to Standard, use the View dropdown.


Administrator View of Gradebook Reports

School Administrator filtering will appear at the top of the screen for these reports for school administrators to drill down into teacher, class, group, and individual student performance.


Alternative Gradebook Report Views

The Class, Group, and Student reports have alternative views to see:

  • Assignment Scores as Percentages (demonstrated in Gradebook Report examples)

  • Assignment Scores Report

  • Standard Scores as Percentages

  • Standard Scores as Points

The following images show those alternative views.

Assignment Scores as Points

Prefer to see your assignments as points earned instead of scores, simply open the View dropdown and select Assignment Scores as Points option.


Standard Scores as Percentages

Using the View dropdown switch from assignment centric view of your grade book to a standards based view of your gradebook by selecting Standard Scores as Percentage.


Standards Scores as Points

As with the assignment view of the gradebook, the standards view also supports showing standards by points earned out of possible points, by selecting the Standard Scores as Points option in the view dropdown.

Note: Selecting the standard code produces the detail of the standard as shown in the image.


Proficiency Reports

The proficiency reports include Class, Group, and Individual Student proficiency reports. These reports measure student proficiency on each standard and show the distribution of student proficiency for each standard using the color-coded scale.

Class Proficiency Report

The class view provides educators with a holistic view of the standard performance and the proficiency distribution for every student in the class using a color-coded proficiency band.

Educators use this report to understand:

  • How are students in my class performing against each standard?

  • Are there standards I need to reteach based on the class average?

How to find this report

  • Located under the reports menu in the navigation bar at the top of the screen, select Proficiency.

To focus on a specific strand of standards, use the Category filter in the report table.


Group Proficiency Report

The group view provides educators with a standards-based report showing performance for select students assigned to a group.

Educators use this report to understand:

  • How are the students in an assigned group performing on the standards?

  • Are students making adequate progress towards standards proficiency/mastery?

How to find this report

  • From within the Class Proficiency Report, use the Student dropdown at the top of the screen to choose the group.


Student Proficiency Report

The Student Proficiency Report is a deeper dive from the Class Proficiency Report into a specific student's performance on the standards.

Educators use this report to understand:

  • How is a specific student performing by standard compared to the class average?

  • Is this student making adequate progress through the standards compared to the class average?

How to find this report

  • From within the Class Proficiency Report, use the Student dropdown at the top of the screen to choose the name of a specific student.


Usage Reports

Various usage reports provide a bird's eye view of student online activity and resource usage in the Perfection Next platform.

Class Usage Reports

The Class Usage Report provides visual reporting to show how many students logged into their accounts, average time online, and number of resources viewed for a given time period.

Educators use this report to understand:

  • Are my students using the digital platform and content provided for my course?

  • Are students working online with the assigned course content?

  • Are my students spending an adequate amount of time online to do their work?

How to find this report

  • Located under the Reports menu in the navigation bar at the top of the screen, select Usage.

  • More details can be drilled into by select the element of the chart.


Login Tracking

This report helps educators ensure students are keeping up with their assigned work and utilizing the digital platform.

Educators use this report to understand:

  • How many times did each student login for the days shown?

  • Are there students who did not login to complete assignments?

How to find this report

  • Select Login Tracking from the previous Usage Report screen.


Resource Usage Report

This report helps educators see which program resources have been accessed by student and the duration of their usage.

Educators use this report to understand:

  • Are my students using the resources in my course?

  • Are students spending an adequate amount of time using the online resources to help them make progress in my class?

How to find this report

  • Select Resource Usage from the previous Usage Report screen.


Administrator View of Usage Reports

School Administrator filtering will appear at the top of the screen for reports as shown below for all usage reports enabling administrators to view teacher, class, group, and individual student usage.
