Getting Started Guide for School Administrators

Setting up your school account to access digital products on Perfection Next

Getting Started for School Administrators

Overview

This article outlines what is needed to setup your school's account to use digital products from Perfection Learning that are delivered on Perfection Next. Most of the article focuses on the things that a non-integrated customer would need to do to setup their account as integrated customers only need to add products to their classes after the integration is in place.

Administrator Accounts

School Administrator accounts are created at time orders for digital products are fulfilled, as part of the integration process, or by school administrators.

School Administrator for Non-Integrated Customers

If your school does NOT have an integration currently setup or included on the order, when your digital products are fulfilled a school administrator account is created by the system when your digital products are fulfilled. The digital product contact on the order will be created as a School Administrator account if your digital product licenses are fulfilled at your school.

Information:

Messages with your account information will be from support@perfectionnext.com. It will have the subject, "Perfection Learning: Digital Access" or "Perfection Learning: Additional Products Add to Your Account" if it is not the first order containing digital products.

Need Help?

If you cannot find your digital access email or your fulfillment email, check your junk/spam folder. Then reach out to Customer Experience at orders@perfectionlearning.com if you can not locate it and they will assist you.

School Administrator for Integrated Customers

If your school has an integration setup with Perfection Next or included on the order, when your digital products are fulfilled a school administrator account is NOT created. The digital contact on the order will receive an email confirmation that the digital products have been added to your account. However, since the account is going to have an integration the account creation for administrators comes when the integration is set up.

School Administrators for non-integrated accounts can create additional school administrator accounts as needed. It is recommended that you restrict school administrator accounts to only those that require this access due to the personally identifiable information for students, teachers, and school administrators that they would have access to.

Setting Up Your School

Non-integrated Customers

Customers that do not have an existing integration or an integration on the order for digital products are considered non-integrated customers. For these customers, the digital contact identified on the order will have a school administrator account created for them as part of our digital order fulfillment process.

You will use the username/password provided to log into https://www.perfectionnext.com. In prior years there were additional delivery platforms available for Measuring Up and Wiley customers for the 2026/2027 school year and beyond all digital products purchased through Perfection Learning are delivered on the Perfection Next digital delivery platform.

Measuring Up Live Customers

Previously, Measuring Up, digital products access was through https://www.measuringuplive.com. A redirect has been put on this domain and now you will access your digital products on Perfection Next.

Wiley Product Customers

Customers ordering Wiley products through Perfection Learning will access their digital products on Perfection Next starting in the 2026/2027 school year. Wiley Plus digital delivery platform for digital components of Wiley products is no longer available.

There are several things that need to be completed before your teachers and students will be able to access their digital products on Perfection Next. These include the following:

Integrated Customers

For customers that are integrating with Perfection Next, your Digital Access email will NOT contain username and password information for your account. Our customer experience team will be reaching out to you after your order has been fulfilled to assist you in setting up your integration. All user accounts will be created through the integration rostering feed into Perfection Next.

Need More Information?

See the Support Center articles in Supported Integrations, for more information on the various integrations that are supported by Perfection Next. Here you will also find some detailed Integration Setup Guides for Canvas, ClassLink, Google Classroom, and Schoology.

All non-Clever integrations with Perfection Next go through 3rd Party Provider, EdLink. There are over 50 integrations supported through EdLink, visit our Support Center article titled, Supported Integrations, for a complete list of supported integrations. These integrations are classified as supporting Single Sign-On (SSO), Rostering, and Grade/Assignment Synchronization.

The length of time it takes for an integration setup and tested can vary, but usually can be completed within 3 to 5 business days. Some factors that might lengthen the integration duration are quality and amount of data being shared with Perfection Learning. We only want data shared for students and teachers for the materials that have been licensed, NOT all of the users at a district/school.

Questions about setting up your integration should be sent to support@perfectionlearning.com.

Integrated Customer?

After your integration has been setup, one will still need to add products to the classes for teachers and students to have access to the materials. A school administrator or teachers can add product to their classes. See the Support Center article, Adding Products to Classes, for steps on how to add product to an existing class.

Products

The products view allows one to launch into the digital products that are active in the account. Simply select the blue links for the component of the product you want to view.

Your screen of available products may look different than the screenshot above as it is based on the products licensed to your school or that have been shared by the district.

Reports

Educators need to know how students are progressing and how they can best
support them. Using data can help accomplish this, and having reliable data
provided in real-time is critical to making important instructional decisions.

Analyzing real-time data and monitoring student progress helps inform
instruction. Recognizing student performance, monitoring progress toward
academic goals, and identifying areas for improvement closes gaps and
increases student achievement.

All reports allow for displaying information at a class, group, or individual view. Below is a list of the various reports available in Perfection Next:

  • Assignment

  • Item Analysis

  • Question Analysis

  • Score Analysis

  • Gradebook

  • Proficiency

  • Usage

As an administrator you have access to reports in Perfection Next. The same reports that are available to a teacher are available to a school administrator. While a teacher can only see data on their classes, a school administrator can see data across the teachers and students in their school. There is an additional dropdown that lets a school administrator select the teacher for whom they want to dive into the data.

See the Support Center article, Using Reports in Perfection Next, for more information about the reports available in Perfection Next.

Manage

Schools

Allows school administrators to enable/disable teacher facing ai features like Grading Assistant as well as set proficiency bands that are used in reporting on Perfection Next.

Toggling On/Off Teacher Facing AI Features

Perfection Next does have AI enabled features for teachers in some products. These features are available in Interactive Editions for Advanced Placement Social Studies and Advanced Placement English courses. In addition, the Connections Reading Fluency Lab also utilizes AI to assist teachers.

These AI enabled features for teachers assist them in grading a student's assignment or evaluate their reading in Fluency Lab. The grading assistant is informational to the teachers to assist them in grading, but the teacher is responsible for doing the actual grading of the assignments.

These features are turned on/off at the school building level.

Need More Information?

See the Support Center article, Grading Assistant, for more details on how these AI enabled features work in Perfection Next.

Need More Information?

See the Support Center article, Using Fluency Lab, for more information on Connections Reading Fluency Lab functionality.

Proficiency Bands

Perfection Next utilizes four-level proficiency bands for grouping students in various reports. The default values for each level are shown below:

Changing Proficiency Bands

School Administrators can also set the proficiency bands to be used for the school in reports in Perfection Next. There cannot be overlap between ranges in the various levels and cannot exceed 100%.

The proficiency bands can be changed at any time and reports will dynamically adjust to use the new values. One can also return to the Perfection Next defaults by selecting the Reset to Default button at the bottom right corner of the screen.

See the Support Center article, Using Reports in Perfection Next, for more information on reporting features in Perfection Next.

Classes

School Administrators have the ability to manage classes for teachers in their school. This includes creating, editing, assigning products, and rosters to these classes. It functions like it does for teachers, but with an additional column in the Manage Classes table of information to filter classes by teacher.

Integrated Customer?

Integrated customers cannot create classes in Perfection Next, the classes will be read-only, though one can still add products to the class. The classes and students in the classes is controlled by the Student Information System (SIS) that has been integrated with Perfection Next.

Licenses

Perfection Next supports two different types of licenses; district-based and school-based licensing. Both are seat-level licensing with the difference being whether they are controlled and managed by the district vs. being managed by the school.

District-based Licenses

District-based licenses are those licenses that were purchased and associated to the district, instead of a particular school. District administrators ultimately manage the licenses in determining which schools are enabled to use these licenses. By default the system will make the products available to the relevant schools on a per product basis. The district administrator can override these settings and choose which school(s) can or cannot use licenses from the district-based licenses.

School Administrators can see licenses that the district has shared with the school. If a district admin removes the sharing with a school those product(s) will be removed from the school's classes and the users of that school will no longer be able to use those district-based licensed products.

School-based Licenses

School Administrators have the ability to view all of the licenses for their institution. They will see the product and component (edition) along with the start and expiration dates of the licenses with the quantity purchased and the seats that are still available.

One can change the filter value from Active Licenses to Expired Licenses or Expiring Soon (30 Days). The default view of Active Licenses displays the list of active licenses for the school. Changing the filter to Expired Licenses one will see the list of licenses where the expiration date has passed and the license is no longer active. Expiring Soon (30 Days) will display licenses that are expiring within the next 30 days.

Licenses are consumed when products or students are added to a class. One does NOT manage licenses at the individual level, but at a class level. So assigning a product to a class of 20 seats will consume 20 licenses from the available licenses.

Licenses are per user and if a student leaves the school, that license can be re-used by another student.

Student-based products have strict enforcement of the license counts. So if one purchases 100 seats, up to 100 students can have access to the given product at a given time. The system will not prevent assigning of products in the event that your school does not have enough licenses if there is at least one license available at the time the students or products are added to the class.

For example, if there were 5 licenses available and I assigned the product to a class of 20 students, the system will allow each of the 20 students to have a license. However, the fact that the school is over the purchased amount of licenses will trigger a license violation message indicating that more than the purchased amount of licenses is currently being used.

A school has 30-days to remediate getting their account into license compliance. This can be done by reducing the number of students that have access to product in classes or by purchasing additional licenses. If the license violation is not remediated during the remediation window, then all users of that product will be suspended from using the product until the account is in licensing compliance.

School Administrators can also view the licenses procured by the district that have been shared with the school. The licenses themselves work exactly like those of the school-based licenses, but they are controlled by the district administrator not the school administrator.

Users

School Administrators

School Administrator accounts have the ability to manage other school administrator accounts.

One can add additional administrator accounts with the Add Administrator link. Using the actions menu on each row account information can be updated, users can be impersonated, or the account can be deleted.

Update Account allows the school administrator to update Personal Information on other school administrator accounts as well as change the password of a user's account. One can also change the account status from Active to Inactive which will prevent the user from accessing Perfection Next while in an Inactive status.

Impersonate User allows the school administrator to impersonate another user. It is unlikely they would need to do this for other school administrators. However, the feature is available for teacher and student accounts which a school administrator can do to assist teachers or students in specific questions or issues they maybe running into.

Delete User allows the school administrator to remove the account from the system. The deletion of a school administrator is destructive and cannot be undone, though one could re-add the administrator to the system.

Recommendation!

Schools should limit the number of school administrator accounts that they create to only those that need to do account setup and administration. School Administrator accounts have access to teacher and student data.

Teachers

School Administrator accounts have the ability to manage teacher accounts.

One can add additional administrator accounts with the Add Teacher link. Using the actions menu on each row account information can be updated, users can be impersonated, or the account can be deleted.

Update Account allows the school administrator to update Personal Information on teacher accounts as well as change the password of a user's account. One can also change the account status from Active to Inactive which will prevent the user from accessing Perfection Next while in an Inactive status.

Impersonate User allows the school administrator to impersonate another user. The feature is available for teacher and student accounts which a school administrator can do to assist teachers or students in specific questions or issues they maybe running into.

Delete User allows the school administrator to remove the account from the system. The deletion of a teacher is destructive and cannot be undone, though one could re-add the administrator to the system.

Students

School Administrator accounts have the ability to manage student accounts.

Add Student

Selecting Add Student from the Manage Students screen will allow you to create a student account in Perfection Next. If you need to add a bunch of students to the system it is recommended you use the Data Import feature to bulk upload and create these accounts.

Student accounts have four categories of information; Student Information, Student Demographics, Accessibility Options, and Change Password.

Student Information contains basic user account information with most of the information being required to create an account.

Student Demographics information is optional data that you can associate to the students in your school.

Accessibility Options provides teachers with some control as to which features are available to the student in their eBooks and Interactive Edition products. It is recommended that most of these features remain on, but the can be turned off if needed.

Need More Information?

See the Support Center article, Accessibility Features with Immersive Reader, for more information on this functionality in eBooks and Interactive Editions.

Change Password allows the teacher to change the student's password.

Note:

Students typically do not have the ability to reset their password as Perfection Next does not usually have an email address for student accounts. Students are directed to see their teacher to reset their password if needed.

In managing student accounts you can View Account, Reset Password, Manage Classes, Impersonate User, and Delete Account.

View Account allows the school administrator to update information on the student's account including student information, demographics, accessibility options and change their password. One can also change the account status from Active to Inactive which will prevent the user from accessing Perfection Next while in an Inactive status.

Impersonate User allows the school administrator to impersonate the student's account and see exactly what the student would when using Perfection Next.

Delete User allows the school administrator to remove the student from the system. The deletion of a student is destructive and cannot be undone, though one could re-add the administrator to the system.

Recommendation:

Change the student's status to Inactive instead of deleting their account, this way you have all the information associated to that student for the school year. When the account is Inactive the student will no longer be able to log into their account.

Data Import

Under Manage, the Data Import school administrators have the ability to bulk upload faculty (teachers and administrators), classes, and students. Each import has a download template that can be opened up in Microsoft Excel and populated. Each row in a template would be for a user (school administrator, teacher, or student) or a class. After populating the template with data, one can upload the files into Perfection Next to create accounts and classes.

Integrated Customer?

The data import feature will not be available to school administrators if the account is an integrated account where we are connecting to a rostering system and providing Single Sign-On. The accounts management is controlled by the source system(s) iin the district and is sync'd with Perfection Next on a nightly basis.

Import School Administrators and Teachers

The first section of the Data Import screen is for uploading teacher and school adminstrator accounts. One can select the Download Faculty Import Template which will download a Microsoft Excel file.

The required fields for classes have the word Required in red in the column. As with the other import file, you should not modify the first three rows of the template. One will have a row for each class that needs to be created.

Certain columns of the templates are restricted to the values that can be populated in them. Each of these columns will show as a dropdown to select when editing that column of the template.

The screen below shows the list of available Grade options that one can select for each class.

The Subject field, which is optional also has a dropdown list to choose from for subjects.
