Do I need a separate product to build Wiley assessments?
No. Wiley assessment content comes with your Wiley student eBook license - there's no separate order. If you don't see it, contact Support.
How do I build an assessment?
Use the Assessment Builder. You can let it pick questions for you (Automatic) or choose each question yourself (Manual). Wiley questions are labeled by difficulty - Easy, Moderate or Difficult - so you can balance the assessment.
What are randomized variable questions?
Some Wiley questions use randomized values - for example, different numbers in a math problem. Each student gets their own version, created when you assign the assessment. When you grade, you see each student's own version of the question.
In the Assessment Builder, Include Randomized Variable Questions (under Question Types) is checked by default. Uncheck it if you want every student to see the same numbers. Some Wiley products don't have randomized questions.
Can answer choices be shuffled for each student?
Yes, for randomized variable questions. Their answer choices are shuffled for each student when you assign the assessment, and students keep the same order if they leave and come back. This applies to assignments created after the October 25, 2026 update - earlier assignments keep their original order. You can also randomize the order of the questions when you create the assignment.
While you're building the assessment, you see the answer choices in their original order. Students see their own shuffled order.
Can students get feedback while they work?
Not on assessments you build in the Assessment Builder. Students see their results after they submit (see "What do students see after they submit?").
Can students have more than one attempt or retake an assessment?
Not at this time. Each student submits the assessment once.
What do students see after they submit?
Students see their score and whether each answer was right or wrong. A Show Correct Answer link shows their answer next to the correct one. You control when they can see this with the Allow students to review answers setting when you create the assignment.
Why don't I see some questions from my textbook?
Questions that can't be answered without a video, image or link that's missing or requires a separate login are left out of the Assessment Builder. That way, students don't get a question they can't complete.
Linked Wiley resources in a question open in a pop-up (videos) or a new tab (pages), and documents download.
